Are you a GIS whizz looking for your next opportunity? This is a great full-time opportunity for either someone located around Muswellbrook or looking for a change of pace whilst maintaining a challenging and interesting role.

The Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Officer is responsible for providing a range of services for the facilitation, implementation, development, maintenance and support of our Client’s Geographic Information Systems, Asset Systems and interlinking interfaces. The role works closely with internal users of spatial and asset systems and provides training and support as required.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Maintain the currency, accuracy and integrity of all GIS systems and data to high standards
  • Develop and maintain GIS Metadata and spatial information documentation.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders regarding the provision of external spatial datasets
  • Maintain SQL server spatial datasets, maintain integration with current asset and financial management system.
  • Maintain and develop SQL queries and reports of spatial and asset data
  • Maintain web-based mapping system
  • Produce high quality maps, reports and plans at an appropriate scale and details for all internal and public requests
  • Develop and maintain system documentation whilst ensuring accuracy and currency of all GIS related data

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualification in Geographic Information Systems OR extensive work experience (3+years) in a similar role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relational databases and SQL
  • Excellent time management, prioritisation, organisational and administrative skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GIS technology products, eg MapInfo Professional
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality customer service and client support
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills combined with good written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated advanced competence in the use of Microsoft Office Software
  • Class C Drivers Licence
  • Experience in preparation and delivery of one-to-one and/or group training (desirable)
