Project Engineer – Roads & Bridges

– Immediate start
– Full time position (4 month contract)

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join their Narrabri based team. The Project Engineer is responsible for developing and delivering road, bridge or traffic infrastructure and/or maintenance projects in order to achieve road safety, asset management and network efficiency objectives.

The main accountabilities for the role include:

– Manage the project and delivery process to ensure road, bridge or traffic infrastructure and/or maintenance projects are developed and delivered to agreed time, cost, quality and scope requirements.
– Manage the investigation and design process by developing project briefs and cost estimates, procuring and overseeing service providers, and monitoring and reviewing ongoing work programs to make effective use of resources and deliver agreed objectives.
– Prepare contract documents for bridge and road works projects including technical specifications to engage, administer and deliver contract works.
– Implement effective cost management systems to ensure effective financial management of projects.
– Effectively manage staff, provide training and career development opportunities and foster teamwork.
– Communicate, consult and collaborate with customers, colleagues, stakeholders and partners and maintain good working relationships.
– Implement appropriate procedures, guidelines, processes and practices, in collaboration with specialists, to deliver a high level of workplace health and safety and environmental management.

To be successful in this role you will require:
– A four year engineering degree
– Knowledge of project and contract management principles and the ability to manage the delivery of road, bridge or traffic infrastructure or maintenance projects.
– Knowledge of the technical aspects of materials, equipment and techniques used in road and bridge construction and maintenance.
– Demonstrated ability to prepare, tender, award and manage
– Ability to prepare competitive and accurate estimates, job programs, project delivery briefs and WH&S management plans, quality management plans, environmental management plans, and traffic management plans for assigned projects.
– Proven ability to effectively manage and motivate direct control resources within the bounds of relevant industrial awards and agreements.
– Demonstrated oral and written communication skills with an ability to work flexibly in a team.
– Knowledge of computer based tools and techniques for project and information management.
– Current motor vehicle driver licence.
– Ability to work outside normal working hours as required or to travel on occasion.
